Tiny tiny

My Palm and my iMac don’t like to talk to each other so much, so I’m on the market for a new PDA. I was thinking about the iPhone (because the iPod touch doesn’t have a camera or, duh, a phone), but then I got to play a little with the Asus Eee… Ooooh! It’s tiny, it’s closer to a laptop than a PDA, it’s getting good reviews all over the place and it’s only 299$. It’s running Linux but a Windows XP version just showed up in Japan today. Why, oh why didn’t Apple come up with something like this instead of that expensive Air guy?

IDC Research Manager for Personal Computing Richard Shim told Reuters he has seen new low-cost laptops that haven’t been announced yet and said « all the major guys » are looking into such devices.

The eeePC seems to have taken the mantle previously owned by the iPhone, as the most speculated, modified and downright blog stirring product out there at the moment. Not a moment too soon.

Someone managed to run Leopard on it but just reading how they did it gives me a headache. Rumour has it that the Eee will get some nifty new features soon. If it can sync easily with iCal, address book and the rest, I’ll forget about the iPhone in a wink.
