It was a great occasion to get together with friends (also known as the &laquo; chosen family &raquo;) for an official holiday, spend some time outdoors together and cook a big turkey meal. Francophone Qu\u00c3\u00a9b\u00c3\u00a9cois don&rsquo;t really celebrate thanksgiving &#8211; which they see as a simple day off from work &#8211; so I hadn&rsquo;t celebrated that holiday since I moved back to Qu\u00c3\u00a9bec. I missed it.<\/p>\n<p>This year, our friends from Vermont (who are also part time montrealers), invited us to spend a Fall weekend with them and decided to make a joint Canadian\\American <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/blork\/1518699846\/\">thanksgiving feast<\/a>. We came back home happy with full bellies, lots of Vermont cheddar, fresh apples, knowledge about the best border lines to cross, and memory cards full of&#8230; memories, of course, thanks to our generous hosts.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/www.martinepage.com\/images\/Beth_Jon_walk2.jpg\" align=\"top\" vspace=\"4\" hspace=\"4\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I lived in the U.S., I learned to love Thanksgiving.
