Aside from the fact that it was wonderful to escape work for one night and hide in a (very full) movie theater, I greatly enjoyed the movie. I know I wasn&rsquo;t the only one. B. had a big smile on his face through most of the film (was it because of Selma&rsquo;s often exposed <a href=\"http:\/\/members.tripod.com\/~tigers3\/index-9.html\">breasts<\/a>?) and the audience actually clapped during the credits at the end. The <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/Name?Taymor,%20Julie\">director<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.salon.com\/ent\/movies\/feature\/2002\/08\/27\/women_directors\/\">woman<\/a>, did a fabulous job at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/ent\/movies\/review\/2002\/11\/01\/frida\/index.html?x\">turning a myth into a real human being<\/a>. I particularly appreciated the way she managed to integrate Kahlo&rsquo;s and Rivera&rsquo;s artwork into the film, painting over the faces and the clothes of the actors to meticulously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salmahayek.org\/image\/vogue_fr02.jpg\">recreate<\/a> a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salmahayek.org\/frida\/image\/art05.jpg\">tableau<\/a>. And of course, the music and the setting made us both want to buy tickets for Mexico!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>B. and I saw Frida last night.
