I knew it could happen! People think I&rsquo;m weird because I&rsquo;m afraid of walking on bridges but people DO fall off of them! I cannot for the life of me find anything about this on the Web, but I heard on the radio today that some guy fell through the space between the sidewalk and the road on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jacques_Cartier_Bridge\">Jacques-Cartier bridge<\/a> this weekend. I also heard that the guy is alive and only got a few bruises. Wow. I can only imagine the force of the impact when he hit the water. Ouch!<\/p>\n<p>When I lived in San Francisco, I took countless friends to the Golden Gate Bridge but I&rsquo;m a bit ashamed to say that I never actually walked across the damn thing myself. I&rsquo;d manage to walk to the first gate and say &laquo; ok, that&rsquo;s it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nivuniconnu\/25327324\/\">see you back at the car<\/a>. &raquo; There is a rather large space between the pedestrian walkway and the actual road of the bridge and I couldn&rsquo;t help looking down at the water as I walked, which always gave me vertigo. Strangely, I don&rsquo;t have a problem with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raggafragga.com\/martine\/Blork_driving_GG.avi\">driving across bridges<\/a> (the link is a video), except for the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Victoria_Bridge,_Montreal\">Victoria bridge<\/a> in Montreal, which scares the hell out of me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I knew it!
