Approaching the end

Tonight, I can’t think of anything more exciting than when all the pieces of a story you’ve been working on fall into place, finally creating a coherent whole, undoing the knots you couldn’t quite take care of before. Starting a text can be painful but oh, once you get going and you reach that point where you have most of the elements ready, where you know it’s going to happen! You will finish the text and it will work. You just know it.

Of course, later on, there are the outsiders’ reviews, the ones that will take every single one of those pieces apart and suggest that maybe you should move this here, and maybe a little more there, and why not change this part in the middle?

But for now, there’s only the satisfaction of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel but not quite being there yet, and that’s okay, because it’s nice and cool and quiet in there and you’ll reach the end when the time comes.
