Another eco-friendly burial technique was recently unveiled in Sweden – a freeze-drying technique that reduces bodies to mulch, which can then be placed in a dissolvable cornstarch box, buried under a newly planted tree, for instance.
AJ, the box tie looking thing is actually an urn, which will be used to store the ashes after the cremation.
« The stainless steel urn, which is shaped like an hour-glass to symbolize that « time heals all wounds, » sits on top of the coffin. The urn withstands the heat of the burning process and gains a uniquely colored patina from the flames. »
I hope all these cool, environmentally friendly designs will be available by the time I die – you know, in the next hundred years or so. ;-)
