Save a friendship: hang up a phone

I’m not at the Yulblog gathering tonight because I’ve got a big deadline for Monday. Work, work, work.

So I’m not at the bar La Cabane and yet, it’s a little bit as if I were there. You see, Lightspeedchick’s cell phone seems to have magically dialed my number without her realizing it and now I can hear conversations going on.

If she starts talking about me, this could mean trouble.

If she brings back a date home tonight, I might have a great MP3 file for you tomorrow.

If someone who’s at La Cabane right now reads this, could you warn Lightspeechick and save a friendship?

(You’ll have to forgive me. I’m working on a teenager movie and I’m getting typical teenage paranoia.)

  1. believe me or not, my female cat has called my best friend twice my stepping on my cell phone, and once she even left a message! she didn’t call anybody else.

  2. I had a very intense conversation with a girl in a car, and it was creepy to come home and find the whole thing recorded on my answering machine, via her cell phone, which had magically re-dialed after we first got in touch.

  3. Oooh, Jack, that must have been really weird!

I’m sure people have lots of similar stories but you never see that in movies… Even though technology is so much a part of our lives, it’s always so hard to make it fit into a screenplay and convince producers that it could work without a long technical explanation.
