UPDATE: I found out a little bit more about this « situation ». Turns out that it was not an oversight as there was an issue around the screenplay credits. It’s a bit complicated, as this stuff often is…
I went to a movie premiere last night in Montreal. It was a big deal: long red carpet, tons of journalists and cameras, lots of famous people (my sister and I got to sit right next to the cutest one) and numerous fans waiting to get autographs. The huge theater was packed with excited people who laughed even during the parts that weren’t funny (though I have to admit that most of the movie was actually quite funny).
At the end of the film, the producer introduced all the members of his team – and when I say all, I mean almost all of them: the large cast, the supporting roles, the distributor, the dp, the composer, the musician who did the theme song, the costume person, etc. Everybody got to stand up or walk up to the stage. Everybody… but the screenwriters, who weren’t even mentioned. Un oubli? �a doit bien �tre un oubli…
I really have to get used to the fact that movies write themselves and that screenplays just appear by magic, without anybody being responsible for them.

Je suis surpris que tu ais aim� le film. je ne m’attendais � rien d’autres que du r�chauff�. Tu m’as donn� la curiosit� d’aller le voir finalement.
Richard � peut-�tre oubli� les sc�naristes hier soir et j’aurais bien aim� que tu leurs rendes un peu plus hommage sur ton blog. Qui �taient les sc�naristes?

It’s very unlike Blork to stand up and scream (he’s a mellow Caper), but it’s even more unlikely for him to do it in a place where everybody speaks French. He gets a bit nervous around too many francos. ;-)
Samurai Sam: Je n’avais pas vu les 3 autres « versions » de ce film. J’avais vraiment peur de d�tester �a mais j’ai �t� bon public (les premi�res rendent les gens moins critiques) et j’ai bien rigol�. C’est plus une s�rie de gags qui s’enchainent qu’une v�ritable histoire mais il y a de bons « one liners » et de belles trouvailles. Et je suis une ancienne fan de hockey! Bien s�r, il y a aussi beaucoup trop de gags qui sont tr�s appuy�s (dont la sc�ne de l’avion qui s’�terniiiiiise) et le film devrait faire 15 minutes de moins mais bon, mes attentes n’�taient pas tr�s �lev�es.
J’ai �vit� de donner le titre et de nommer des noms parce que je ne voulais pas viser (ou attirer, par Google) des personnes en particulier. Le milieu du cin�ma au Qu�bec est bien trop petit… et moi je suis parano, j’avoue! ;-)
Les sc�naristes sont constamment oubli�s dans les entrevues, les reportages, etc. C’est la r�alit� du m�tier et si on r�vait vraiment d’�tre vedette, je pense qu’on ferait autre chose dans la vie. Mais bon, l’oubli �tait tout de m�me flagrant.

Les livres se r�visent d’eux-m�mes, �galement! �a me fascine toujours…
c’est un m�tier ingrat. on ne peut m�me pas dire un m�tier de coulisse! c’est pour �a que tu as un blogue, dis, pour briller de mille feux et avoir toute la place? �a marche!;-) et puis petit � petit, les sc�naristes qui bloguent finiront par conscientiser ceux qui le veulent, et peut-�tre un jour quelqu’un se l�vra � la place de Blork pour demander qui a �crit ce foutu film! :-)
et quand �a arrivera, prend tout le cr�dit! :-)
Ridiculous and insulting! And pretty incredible. I wish Blork HAD been there! And I hope there will be a way to turn the tables one day.
Yikes. Well… maybe the screenwriter is disfigured or all scaly or something and didn’t want to have to go up in front of anyone? I mean, screenwriters are all disfigured and scaly, right?
And there are certainly nooo cute female screenwriters….
