Synopsis

Research, interview, write, write, write, print, and then rewrite. Print. Rewrite once again. Move the paragraphs around, make it punchier, sexier, give it more conflict, more suspense. Make it universal. Character driven. Swear you’ll never use Syd Field’s techniques (hey, you went to an artsy film school after all), rewrite again, print, and then realize that you’ve written Syd Field’s stuff anyway. Pull your hair out. Bite your pathetic nails. Think of your Monday deadline. Think of this as selling yourself, like you do with a resume, only it is not your personal story that you are selling. This one is bigger, smarter, but also simpler. Yikes.

You know the real creative part will come later. If you can first sell it on paper, of course.
