There’s a first time for everything

Cute scene with my nephews tonight: As we were all watching Lemony Snicket’s, a series of unfortunate events back at my place, The Mini cuddled up next to Alexis (7) and started to purrrrr. « What’s that noise? », said Alexis. « Don’t you know? It’s the cat ». I put the DVD on pause while Alexis and Renaud listened to the cat with their mouths open with surprised. It was the first time that they had ever heard a cat purr. (Their mother has allergies.) They almost looked scared at first but then the smiles that lit up their faces was priceless.

I can’t remember the first time I ever heard a cat purr. I grew up with cats and dogs and birds and fishes. Dad even brought a bat home one day and tried to convince mom to keep it in a cage. (He didn’t succeed.) He would have loved for one of his kids to become a vet.

Later on tonight, The Mini helped me convince the kids to keep quiet and go to sleep. His methods were very convincing. I can’t hear a sound coming from the guest bedroom.
