During our trip to Italy last month, we ended up in a small tuscan village on top of a hill. It was a beautiful, modest place, with stone houses and clotheslines gently floating in the breeze. The place was extremely quiet. Strangely, even though it was a perfect sunny day, there were no other tourist around and we hardly saw any locals. As we turned a corner to find yet another empty street, I suddenly had a flashback of a movie I saw years and years ago. It was the kind of movie that played on television late at night on Friday or Saturday and I believe I saw it more than once during my childhood.

It was the story of a couple – with the wife pregnant – who takes a small boat to a remote island for a vacation. Once they get to the beautiful island, they realize that there are no adults around. Only kids. Very spooky kids… Killer kids!

It was one of those seventies horror films that don’t show you much but that manage to make a deep impression on you. I couldn’t remember where the movie was shot or who was in it but even though I saw it when I was a teen, I still remembered some shots very clearly. Horror movies that take place in broad daylight are pretty rare…

I told Blork about the spooky movie – which he believed he had seen too – and I kept thinking about it as we walked through the streets of the Italian village. I promised myself that once we’d get back home, I would write about this movie on my blog, hoping that one of you would help me find its title.

Turns out I didn’t need you. One quick Google search (children-killing-island-movie) pulled up the film from IMDB. It was a 1976 Spanish production, filmed both in Spanish and in English called �Qui�n puede matar a un ni�o? . The English title was Island of the Damned.

I found a few links to it on the Web but the DVD remains hard to find, if it even exists in North American format. I’d love to watch the film again and see if I’d find it as spooky as I did when I was younger. I’m surprised that no one has made a remake of that film yet.

Les qu�b�cois semblent avoir attrap� cette ann�e la fi�vre du soccer. Est-ce parce que le hockey est devenu trop d�cevant pour nous? Anyway, tout le monde dit ces jours-ci que c’est donc b������ le soccer, qu’il y a des jeux suuuuuperbes monsieur et que c’est spectaaaaaculaire madame!

Sauf que moi � chaque fois que j’allume la t�l� pour regarder le « foot » pendant que je m’entra�ne, il ne se passe rien. Rien pantoute. Que des gars qui courent dans toutes les directions, des coups de pieds par ci par l� et des trajectoires de ballon pas tr�s pr�cises. Jamais de but ou de jeux apparents. Je vous jure, je regarde pendant au moins 30 minutes et il n’y a jamais personne qui compte ou qui fait quelque chose d’int�ressant.

Peut-�tre que je ne suis pas tomb�e sur les bonnes �quipes � voir. Peut-�tre que c’est le c�ble sur ma t�l� qui fait d�faut. Peut-�tre qu’il me manque un g�ne pour comprendre.

Ou peut-�tre que c’est une conspiration et que vous vous �tes tous mis en t�te de m’exclure de votre petit cercle en me faisant croire que vous aimez vraiment �a, le soccer. Juste pour vous moquer de moi.

Le Web est rempli � ras bord de personnages � la p’tit Joe Connaissant qui en savent toujours un peu plus que vous (du moins ils le croient) et qui ne savent pas retenir leurs d�bordements de conseils, m�me quand vous n’avez de toute �vidence ni besoin ni envie de leurs conseils.

Belle parodie de ce ph�nom�ne dans le domaine de la photographie: Et si les photographes les plus reconnus au monde avaient mis leurs photos sur un forum Web?

Oh et puisque vous y �tes, allez voir cette autre photo prise par �ric. Il met vraiment de la couleur dans notre ville.
