Me and the hanging rock

There’s something a bit spooky about this picture, taken by Ed, but it’s one of my favorites from our trip.

Kind of reminds me of the ambiance of the movie Picnic at Hanging Rock, except for the fact that I should be wearing a fluffy white dress instead of a dark windbreaker.

Just for fun, check out the slooow trailer for the movie, which came out in 1975. The style of movie previews sure has changed in the last 30 years!

A trailer for a book.

Take 6 minutes of your time this weekend to watch The Shock Doctrine, a short film made by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of men) and his son Jonás Cuarón, as a companion to Naomi Klein’s new book of the same title.

I like the idea of making short films to promote/accompany a book. There’s a new screenwriting niche for you!

Naomi Klein talked about her book with George Stroumboulopoulos on September 17th. The video of the interview is available on The Hour’s web site.
