Chronic Flirt

Deep down, Madeleine knows that what she is addicted to are escape clauses. Backdoor rabbit holes. Flirting: the long wick that leads to the stick of dynamite that can reliably blow up your life and land you in a new one. This is for people who are terrified of being trapped – and more terrified of being abandoned. This is for people for whom sex with a familiar other becomes more and more like having their wounds probed while splayed across the gutted upholstery of a midsummer car wreck.

You’ve got to love the writing style of Ann-Marie MacDonald (from The Way the Crow Flies).

Avis aux hommes rouges: le d�sir d’affirmation et de s�duction peut parfois aller trop loin, comme en t�moigne ce dr�le de court-m�trage qui �tait en nomination pour un Oscar.

Le r�alisateur du film, qui est aussi acteur, a un blogue en espagnol. Je crois que c’est lui qui a fait semblant de dormir durant la c�r�monie hier soir.

Chris Landreth, un animateur de Toronto, a remport� hier soir l’Oscar pour le meilleur court-m�trage d’animation. J’avais rat� son superbe film, Ryan, mais gr�ce � Mikel, j’ai appris que ce court-m�trage est disponible en entier sur le site de l’Office National du Film du Canada.

« Ryan was conceived, developed and animated in the world of 3D computer generated imagery (CGI). Although the characters and sets have detailed realism, everything in the film has been modelled with CGI tools- there is no live-action footage. All characters in Ryan were animated by hand (there was no ‘motion capture’ used in the film). »

Allez le voir, c’est vraiment une oeuvre touchante et originale. Le c�l�bre bar de la rue St-Laurent La Cabane, o� les blogueurs montr�alais se rencontrent � tous les mois, fait m�me une br�ve apparition � la fin du film. On peut aussi voir l’entr�e de la librairie Welch (dont la chatte Rosie est morte la semaine derni�re).
